Art Classes

Over the last year or so I have been increasingly taking on more art teaching work.

Some recent reviews:

"She is a FANTASTIC facilitator (art class students can vouch for this)." - Fiona Howe (homeschooling mum and SHRIMPS co-ordinator)

"Fabulous workshop! It was a big hit with mums and kids alike" - Olwyn Cox (homeschooling mum, referring to the Concertina and Zine workshop)

"Jemima. Since leaving your class on Thursday, Astra has not stopped drawing. She’s designed a bunch of new pokemons, drawn portraits of me and her Dad based on letters, drawn ponies, unicorns, pegasi, right now she’s drawing a deer....she is on FIRE! Thank you so much for inspiring her, she is so happy!" - Christine Milne (homeschooling mum)

I love working with people and have given classes to both primary and high school students, students with ESL backgrounds, homeschoolers, adults, and also one-to-one art lessons (I have a current Working with Children Check number).

I am available to teach one-off workshops or more regular programs, and live in inner-Sydney, though am able to travel to parts of greater Sydney.

If you're interested in classes, workshops, a quote, commissions or would like to ask any questions, send me an email: mmijae (at) yahoo.com

Topics I have taught before:

Cartooning

How to make Zines and Concertina books

Intro to comics, drawing bodies and story telling through gesture and sequential images.

Introduction to drawing from life - with pencil, charcoal, pastels, or water colours.

Self-portraiture and oil painting techniques.

Water colour techniques.

Perspective drawing, and how to draw buildings in 3D.

Colour theory and how to use it.

I'm in the process of developing classes on other drawing/painting related topics, and generally customise the class for the specific group, with whatever mix of practical, theory or history is desired.
